BGC: Today, we are part of a movement called the Baptist General Conference. In Canada, we have over 110 churches. In BC alone there are about 40 churches belonging to this movement. In BC, we are called the BCBC. British Columbia Baptist Conference.

What We Stand For: We are a Christ-centered church movement which holds fast to the scriptures being the inspired word of God and from which we ask the Spirit to grant us direction and wisdom. Why do we exist? we feel it is better for churches to stand with other churches than to be alone and to get help in church revitalization, church planting, and discipleship. What that means is that churches like other organizations over time get tired and begin to lose their vitality. They need to continually envision. The BCBC helps in the task.

Mission: All organizations must have a mission. Our Sunday Service is the tip of the iceberg as we want the church experience to be a wholistic one where church members are in community during the week. That means, the church is perpetually on mission. Many churches just believe in supporting missionaries as their mission. No, we believe that we the people are always on mission. Our lives are a testimony of that mission. The BCBC is a body of like-minded churches that bear witness to Jesus.

What Else? The BCBC has an Investments savings fund (MIF) received from the deposits of their many members over years that issue loans for developing and growing the ministry. GIBC is a beneficiary of that fund as we took a loan at low interest for the retrofit of this property. When there’s a change in leadership, the BCBC will jointly send someone to act as transitional. Our District Minster is like the pastor to the pastors.

So, in summary, we are a collaboration of like- minded independent churches on a joint mission and we want to continue supporting the BCBC. We will take an offering for the work of the BCBC.
